Book Review: 1776

1776
by David McCullough

What I learned ... wow. We should still be British. It is amazing that America gained independence after that debacle.

Nicely written, a little dry and boring but mostly readable.

Not about the entire struggle, though. Just about the year 1776. Duh. I was about 20 pages from the end when Washington was crossing the Delaware (the turning point in the war) and thought to myself, "Gee, he's going to have to wrap up the war quickly and shoddily." Then it occurred to me that the book was only covering that single year. Ergo perhaps you shouldn't trust my review because, obviously, I wasn't quite processing.
